Maine Instructor Course
Level 1
Description: Study of the elements that
compromise the driving task and the highway transportation system. Emphasis on
human performance variables, traffic engineering, and related research. For
educators and those whose responsibilities include motor fleet safety.
Prerequisite: Valid operator's license.
Laboratory: Classroom/on-road Sally
King and
on-road Ronald Vance.
Textbooks: Student must purchase before class
starts: Responsible Driving (AAA, Glencoe, 2000) and Maine #29A.
Grading: Students will be graded on oral and
written presentations, class work, tests, and in-car driving skills. A grade of
at least 80% is necessary to qualify for driver education certification.
Attendance: Students may not miss more than 4
hours of class. Makeup work will be required at the discretion of the
instructors and an additional fee of $35 per hour will be charged for each
makeup session.

Class Fee: $500 must be paid in full before
class starts
To hold a class, 8 students are required.
