We have more choices
for makeup classes with 3 classes running concurrently!! Maine
State law requires driver's education students to makeup the same
class that is missed, and by having 4 to 5 different classes
running a month, our students can make up the missed class and
finish sooner. Other schools do not offer this
choice.

We welcome you to visit our classrooms and see the extras we
provide to enhance the learning experience for traffic safety. We have set
driving routes to teach traffic skills. We also let the student drive our
vehicles--some schools don't let the student travel far for their hour lesson.
We use a special computer program in our classrooms called driver-ZED designed
by the American Automobile Association.

Insurance
The Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles only requires that a licensed driving school carry minimum state limits for liability insurance (which is $400,000). Because there are no requirements for higher limits and personal coverage, a majority of licensed driving schools or instructors in Maine do not provide anything above the bare minimum. We carry above state requirements and have the policy on location for you to view.

Vehicles
Too many schools use older vehicles with excessive mileage, worn out brakes, and balding tires. Some driving schools have used vehicles without properly installing the instructor's passenger side brake, rearview mirrors, or signs. Additionally, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles does not require that a driving school even own the automobile. The instructor could own the automobile. All our driver education vehicles are owned by the school so we may oversee that all proper, regularly scheduled, and necessary maintenance is done to the fleet. Again, the concern of minimum insurance comes into play based upon each individual instructor maintaining the insurance for the driver education car. The safety of the student driver may depend upon the driving school's vehicle selection and maintenance program.
At Drivers Edge Driving School, our vehicles are inspected and serviced regularly. All required maintenance is done in a timely manner. Our vehicles are clean, smoke-free, and air conditioned to provide a suitable education environment.
