Frequently Asked Questions
Who may take driver education?
 | Anyone at
least 15 years old on the date of the first class. |
Will I have to take any other state tests
to get my permit?
 | The only
test you will have to take is in our driver education course. |
When can I get my license?
 | To get a
driver's license, you must be at least 16 years old and have had your
permit for at least 6 months. The applicant must also complete
a minimum of 35 hours of driving, including 5 hours of night
driving while accompanied by a parent, guardian, or licensed driver of at
least 20 years old. When you receive your permit from Drivers
Edge, you will also receive a driving log, on which to record these
hours. This driving log will also be sent to the state when you are
ready to get your road test. Then a road test will be scheduled for
you, and the date of the road test will be sent to you from the Bureau of
Motor Vehicles. |
Does the driving school own all the driver
education cars or do the instructors?
 | At Drivers
Edge, we believe that the only cars used to teach driver education
should be owned by the driving school, not the instructor. We own
all our vehicles, and we carry above state requirements for insurance. |
How much time is spent in the car for
driving instruction? How many students ride in the car during the driving
instruction?
 | Time spent
in the car is 10 hours, which includes each lesson for 1 hour
with the parent or guardian. |
I lost my driving log. How can I get
another one?
 | You can pick
up another log at any Bureau of Motor Vehicles branch or at our
office. You can also print one online from the BMV-- click
here (PDF format) |
